Holiday Season 2006

Meaneese'he

            (summer moon)

Wow, it's been so long since I've been here.  Our winter and spring have flown by. Dah'som is nearly finished with 4th grade and we are busy getting ready for the summer season.

Ann, her sister Eva, Dah'som, Paul, and I attended the dedication ceremony of the Sand Creek Massacre site a couple of weeks ago.  This recoginition was a long time coming and a result of hard work and dedication by more than a few individuals.  Check it out at:  www.nps.gov/sand

My grandmother, Grace, always told a story that began with "if your grandfather didn't survive Sand Creek then none of us would be here...".

Grace's father, Henry Red Neck, was an infant when he and his mother, along with nearly 300 other Cheyenne and Arapaho, were ambushed by the Colorado Volunteer Militia under John Chivington at Sand Creek.  Henry's mother was able to save herself and her baby that terrible day.  The fates intended their descendants to survive - thankfully.

We look forward to seeing you this summer!
